Are Carpenter Bees Attacking Your Home?

Carpenter Bees get their common name because nearly all species of these bees build their nests in burrows, dead wood, bamboo, or structural timbers, often attacking your home. Carpenter bees are often mistaken for Bumblebees, but are different in the fact that they nest in timbers or wood and are solitary bees, not living in a colony.

While these bees are most definitely a pest, they do serve an ecological purpose in the pollination of many flowering plants here in East Tennessee. Not only do they serve a great service to our gardens, for the most part, carpenter bees are not harmful and will rarely sting a person. But if you do see these guys buzzing around your house in Knoxville, Maryville, or Farragut it might be best to set up a trap or call us at Preferred Pest, Termite & Turf at (865) 234-4008. We handle the dirty work, so you don’t have to!
